Raspberry Pi Data Collector
This is a plug-in board for the Raspberry Pi boards.
As of March 2015 this board works on all current versions of the Raspberry Pi, it comes with the 2X20 header for the newer Pi boards soldered on. If you want to use it with the older boards you need to simply install the 2X13 header (included) between this expansion board and the older Pi.
This board is used to collect data from various sensors and to turn things on and off based on that data.
Examples:
- furnace/stove/kiln controller
- egg incubator controller
- aquarium controller
- irrigation system controller
- solar water heater controller
- home monitoring and home automation
Sensor that can be connected:
2 - type K thermocouples (1000C this version, next revision full type-K range)
- for measuring high temperatures from stoves or burners
3 - 0-5V ADC channels for measuring temperature, humidity, or sensors that puts out a 0-5V signal
2 - 0-5V AC ADC channels for measuring small 5V P-P AC signals from for instance, sense transformers for monitoring AC current
1 - Digital Counter for counting ticks from flow meters and rain gauges, photoelectric sensor trips, and the like
A large number of 1-wire sensors on 1-wire bus connection
Outputs:
3 - transistor outputs to control relays (Solid State Relays's or small mechanical relays)
The Raspberry Pi header pins extend out so that other boards can be stacked on top of this board.
both 2X13 (Raspberry Pi A, B) and 2X20 (Raspberry Pi B+, 2.0) headers are included.
Board has built in temperature sensor on ADC channel 0.
Included: Wiring Diagram for board.
Raspbian Linux pre-configured on SD card to work with this board for both data collection and device control.
This is a version of Raspbian Linux pre-configured and set up to talk to sensors using this board. Installed and configured:
OWFS and OWSERVER to talk to the 1-Wire devices
wiringPi library to toggle the output transistors
ask-mcp3008 to talk to the ADC converter
Apache webserver and MRTG already configured and installed to monitor the data

NOTE: The Raspberry Pi in the picture is included only for scale and to show how the board is attached. It it NOT included with this purchase.
